I lived in Portland for 4 1/2 years. Its a nice place to be if you like gloomy skies for fall and winter months and intense sunshine in the late spring and summer months. Its a very young and white town. There are so many wonderful dining options for a very low cost there. You are very close to many natural wonders like waterfalls, thick woods, rivers, mountains and the ocean is a hour and half drive to the west. Portland is a small city and seems like some kind of Disney attraction because it has many features of a large city but very condensed. There can be too many music options at times which can lead to not wanting to see any bands.
